Japanese Tea Room Interior
These are renders of my Japanese tea house portion for my 3D modeling specialization. The goal was to create a portion of a Japanese tea house, with props and then to create textures in Adobe Substance Painter.
The other goal was to create photo-realistic renders of my model. I used my knowledge from practicing the Japanese tea ceremony myself for the props and set-up, as well as researching about tea houses in Japan.

Process
I made outlines for various elements in the design such as the props, scroll, windows, and shoji doors in Adobe Illustrator and then imported them into Autodesk Maya. I created the models in Autodesk Maya. After that, I created the textures for the vases, chawan (tea cup), natsume (tea caddy), and the scroll in Adobe Substance Painter. For the wood textures and tatami I used free textures that I found on the internet. I edited the tatami maps in photoshop and then brought them into Illustrator to tile the pattern to appear smaller and work better with my tatami UVs. I am hoping to create my own textures for the whole pieces one day. I am also planning on creating the full teahouse along with a garden environment later on. However, this is what I finished for the quarter's project.
